Crevices or “A mimetic infection”   The human body can identify if a virus or a foreign organism has penetrated its integrity. If so it directs all its resources in trying to eliminate the trespasser. But what happens when a virus can move undetected? What happens when the human body can’t make a distinction between what is his naturally and what has been implanted?  This performance suggests that some organism have chameleonic attributes and can pretend they belong to the body.  Strips of materials embroided with texts metaphorically represent these “viruses”. The forms of these texts vary and they can imitate instructions for using your body, they can be poems, mantras or deep-rooted concepts of sexuality and self-care.  The strips are between 7 and 13 meters long and are incorporated in a nude second skin full body suit. The stripes and placed under the suit and so they deform the natural shape of the body, looking a lot like excrescents in certain sensitive areas. The more the stripe gets pulled out from underneath the second skin the more the human body gets back its original shape.  The 14 areas that I found to be most vulnerable to “viruses” are as follows: the eyes, the nose, the mouth, the armpits, the palms, the intersection between the arm and the forearm, the navel, the vagina, the anus, the back of the knees and the soles of the feet.    1.
