The pieces represent a study of the topography of the body. It is  similar to the geography of the natural world; a map is a weathered form where experiences leave their mark over time, gradually shaping the landscape. And so, time has a similar effect on our character: our physiology belies our emotional history.

Here this history is visible: the marks and fretwork have an external origin, they have been imposed over the raw porcelain over a time frame, gradually changing the integrity of the material. This modification of integrity, the nuance of change from clean to marked, from whole to corrupted is the main focus of these pieces.
