There is special sensation to the pleasure we enjoy between ourselves as women.

Since our sensual lives have been so heavily objectified by men, imagery of such pleasure has been appropriated from us.

We women are denied using that imagery as a depiction of our own pleasure without being accused of conforming to stereotypes imposed on our bodies by others.

However, we have a right to express and explore all of the sensations our bodies produce, without intimidation either from chauvinists or second-wave feminists.

Champagne violence is a series of drawings about female hedonism and the unbridled excess of drunkenness, fluids and nakedness.

Such states have been described dating all the way back to Euripides’s Bacchae (and before) but the focus has always been on the dangers of unrestricted female emotion.

My series focuses on the sensations of the women themselves, disconnected from social context and pushing at the edges of the qualia available in the female spectrum of consciousness.
